Welcome
to Tabeak View Point Bungalow at Yao Noi
This is one of those rare places with 'view point' in the
name that actually delivers -- it's high up on a steep hill
and the 180 degree view of the ocean from the balconies goes
on forever. The rooms are much better than you might expect
for the price, well-furnished, with French doors letting on
to the balconies. All have fans, private baths, and hot
showers. The name Tabaek refers to the colorful, flowering
trees that surround the bungalows, without, thankfully,
blocking the view. It's run by a Thai/Japanese couple --
they serve Thai and Japanese food at the restaurant on
premises.

This is one of those rare places where the name “view point”
actually delivers what it promises.
The resort is high up on a steep hill and a 1800 view overlook the
east side of the island. You will be able to admire the beauty of
the sunrise from your own balcony.
Situated
about 15 minutes from the main market on the island this group of
four bungalows has probably the most spectacular views due to its
excellent position. Bring your binoculars here for a spot of
high-quality bird watching from the balconies of all the bedrooms.
Sea eagles, Hornbills and a variety of Kytes are prolific here.
Tabeak is on a mountain and so Krabi and Phang Nga Bay are clearly
visible. On a clear day it is also possible to see Phi Phi and Lanta
islands with the naked eye.
Tabeak Viewpoint has an intimate little restaurant and serves Thai
and Japanese food. The owners are a Japanese/Thai couple who offer a
warm and personal welcome and can take you out on fishing trips or
around the island. A totally peaceful and relaxing place to get away
from it all. |

“amazing retreat --
beautiful views”
Tabeak Viewpoint Bungalows
Tabaek Viewpoint is an
amazing place. We stayed
last November and loved the
owners, Pramote and Kikuyu
(spelling?). Pramote took us
on a kayaking excursion,
fishing excursion, and we
rented motos form him for a
day of riding around the
island. There were hardly
any other people staying
there so it was incredibly
quiet and intimate. It was
not expensive -- although I
can't remember the price --
maybe 30 a night at most.
The food was delicious.
Pramote speaks very good
English. Kikuyu is Japanese
and speaks only a little
English. The place is very
clean. More simple than the
other places on the island,
but adequate and clean.
Beautiful views. I'd go back
in an instant.
One thing, the beaches
aren't as nice as other Thai
islands, but the island is
special because it doesn't
have all the late night bar
crowds and loud tourists. In
fact, please, if you are
looking for that, please
don't go. It would be nice
to think this island will
remain the peaceful oasis it
is now. |
“Perfect idyllic
hideaway”
This lovely, low impact,
bungalow development enjoys
the same fabulous views of
the Phang-Nga idlands that
the Evason Spa has but at a
fraction of the price! Run
by the local police
lieutenant and his Japanese
wife, this is a great place
to spend a few days relaxing
and only an hours' boat ride
from the noise of Phuket.
Ask your hosts for a
long-tail boat trip round
the islands - much cheaper
and more private than from
Krabi or Phuket. What Phuket
was like 30 years ago! |
“Perfection”
Ocean view bungalows (8
total on property) on Koh
Yao Noi, a quiet
non-touristy island 45 min
boat ride from Phuket pier.
We were blown away by the
quality of these bungalows
(900 BHT/night) and how
incredibly nice the owners
(married couple) were. Cute
restaurant, English spoken,
stunning views. Bungalows
are located approx 5 minute
walk up a hill opposite a
cute deserted beach.
Fans/mosquito netting/beds
that put most hotels to
shame, and an ocean view
that will simply blow you
away off the deck of your
bungalow and/or the
restaurant, which serves
great Japanese/Thai food at
cheap prices (70-100 BHT
average)
I cannot say enough about
this place. We've stayed in
many bungalows and this is
simply put the best
experience we've had. |
“good
and cheap place to stay”
Tabeak Viewpoint is a good
and cheap place to stay if
you go to Koh Yao Noi. It
has about 4 individual
bungalows, each with a
viewing balcony and deck
chairs. The owner is
building 3 more.
It costs a mere 800 Baht
during the low season, and
900 Baht during the high.
Very cheap if you compare
the prices offered by other
places on the island which
do not give you the same big
rooms.
You'll need a torch at night
to walk to this place
because there is no street
lighting. Good footwear
recommended for walking up
and down the small hill
slope. Don't forget to stop
in your tracks and look up
at the milky way.
Tabeak gets a 5 star vote
from me and my husband.
Totally recommended. |
